Traverse City – Pit Spitters                                       . 

Pam & Kurt invited us to join them for a Pit Spitters game!!!  Brad had to take a day off work because it was on a Thursday around lunch time! the game was at 11:05 am on Thursday.

We were a bit concerned about rain from the forecast earlier in the week, however, the weather was beautiful that day!  The Pit Spitters were playing KMO – Kokomo Jackrabbits.  I have to admit that since I played softball as a girl in  rec leagues, I do love a good baseball game & I know what is going on!!

At this time, you may be asking, who are the Pit Spitters?  I found this information and have used it as a general summary of the team.

The Traverse City Pit Spitters are a baseball team in the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league, and began play in the 2019 season. Based out of Traverse City, Michigan, the Pit Spitters play their home games at Turtle Creek Stadium in nearby Blair Township. The team was founded in 2018 and are in the Northwoods League.  They were division Champs in 2019 & 2021!  And their colors are Cherry Red, Leaf Green, Black & White!

Brad & I were pretty happy when we had a moment to meet MONTY!

Monty is the team MASCOT and he makes the entire game experience better with his fun-loving attitude for the team, fans & the game!  

And we got to join in the Macarena Dance!!

Another thing that I love about these games are the activities that they have going on while the teams switch for the Top & Bottom of innings or between the innings – there is never a dull moment!  They did the Macarena Dance for us – the crowd loved it!  There are often members from the crowd that are chosen to do various activities & challenges during this time which are fun to watch and means never a dull moment!

Time for Lunch!!

Since the game was @ 11:05, we were soon hungry and since we are seated in the Fox Motors Den Patio Tables, we had a waitress taking “care” of us and the lunch was ordered and we were all quite happy when our lunch was delivered!. Complete with the Beer!  I love a Good Baseball Game complete with the right food!  Did I mention that we skacked on peanuts when we first got there?

Good Game!!!

Well after 9 great innings, the Pit Spitters almost came back for a win but, not quite.  The Jackrabbits scored 3 in the first inning and then 2 & 1 in innings 3 & 4.  Then Pit Spitters scored 4 in the 7th inning (WATCH OUT) and 1 more in the eighth!  We wanted to score in the 9th for the win but, not quite.  The game was exciting and enjoyed by all!!
